Default Registry Search Page ??

M

Mike Pietrantoni

Hope someone can help here.

Browser got hijacked in a wierd way. If I type a normal URL in the
search window preceeded with http:// - it will go to the page
specified. However if I use the shortcut of omitting the http:// and
just put in the www.wherever.com - I wind up being redirected to some
expired porn page.

Checked the registry in:
My Computer\Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

and in the Search Page window listing is the url of the now defunct
porn site.

Question - The Search Page and Search URL are Reg_SZ files. What
should be their normal default so that I can get away from this idiot
porn redirect. Can I delete the Search Page Reg_SZ file ?? Or should
there be another, default URL in there ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Get and run these four programs (if you test after each one you can stop
when the problem is gone):
Ad-Aware:

and
Spybot - Search & Destroy -

and

and
SpywareBlaster:

Until the problem is solved.

If the problem site is your home page:

If the problem is a pop-up window, your computer may have been hijacked.

them in the future have a look at the link below:
