Default Printer keeps changing

On a new PC running XP Pro SP3 I have an HP3505 local via USB set as default.
At random times the default printer changes to another printer attached to
another PC on the peer to peer network.
I always check and change if required the default printer when switching
onthe machine in the morning but it could change one minute later.
Any ideas how to stop this happening?

An application program can change the default printer.

Default printer settings usually require complete permission access in
order for the default to "stick" permanently. To set the default
permanently, "Administrator" type account will let the settings be
saved.

If not, some application is resetting the default. Check for
spyware / malware infestation first. Then, review any / all software
that you are using.
