Default folder view?

Is there a way to set the default folder view? In particular, the
window size, and icon display?

In the Vista Control Panel, there is an icon called 'Folder Options' which
will allow you to make changes to your default folder views.

That option does indeed exist, however Vista appears to have a subtle bug
where it sometimes forgets what your 'default' folder view is.

Hopefully one they'll spot sometime.

Yes, but in XP you did this via a displayed folder, so the "apply the
view that you are using to all folders" had some meaning. In Vista, it
is meaningless.
 
Press Alt + T - Folder Options, or turn on menus Organise - Layout. Then
similar to XP though folders applied to is more granular..

Views are set by the template used. There are different templates for
Documents, Pictures, etc. You need to set the options as you want for each
type, then go to Organize | Folder and Search Options | View | Apply to
folders. Then after it's all set up, the settings sometimes change around
on you.
