David Shorthouse

Hello,

I have been fighting with an annoyance lately. All of my folders now
seem to open as a filmstrip as their default view no matter how many files
or type. How do I change the default view for all my folders in one shot.
Note that I have 4 partitions spread across 3 disks (1 IDE and 2 RAID0).

Thanks,

Dave

Actually , I don't think it matters if you have 44 partitions, as this is
just a display modality.
Open a folder, select VIEW and the particular view you desire.
Then, TOOLS
FOLDER OPTIONS
VIEW tab
click on "Apply to All Folders"
Apply
OK

Thanks for the tip. I was hunting around all over the place for this and
have no idea what caused the default to change on me.

Dave

Hi Dave,

This info may help:

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
