Default Folder locations

How do I change the default file locations that appear when saving document
and pictures.
For example I would like to change the My pictures location for saving
pictures. Currently it defaults to ...My documents/my pictures.

When you are doing what? Downloading from the Internet? What program/
application are you using? etc. Default is DEFAULT, that's where it goes
unless
you change it, and that means within the program you are using.

An ambiguous posting, but let's try a few options.

If you want to move the 'My Documents' folder to another drive, then right
click on My Documents and click on Properties, then press the Move button.

If you wish for a subfolder in My Documents to be moved to another location,
just drag and drop.

If you want the 'default' store or save location within an application to be
changed. Well this usually is managed within the individual application.

For Word 2003:
Click on Tools
Click on Options
Click on File Locations tab
Highlight the One you need to change and click Modify.

Use TweakUI, Edit the registry or use System Policy Editor. Or if Office
XP, scroll down.

[[First you add to

the PlacesBar subkey. In PlacesBar, create the REG_DWORD values Place0,
Place1, Place2, Place3, and Place4. These correspond to the five available
buttons from top to bottom. The common dialog boxes will display only the
buttons specified by these values; if there is a PlacesBar subkey with no
values, an empty places bar will be displayed. Then set PlacesN to one of
the settings in shown in Table]]

Downloading from the Internet is one. I am happy with the Office file
location default and changing it.
