Accessing MY DOCUMENTS as a folder

V

Vance Roos

After pressing the Start button on the screen I can aceess the Start
menu and select My Documents.

It shows a new menu which has got folders in it for My Pictures and
My Nusic. And it shows the files on the folder My Documents.

(Q.1) How can I launch the folder My Documents itself?

I like to see the default location for the douments I have created in
the past.

(Q.2) Alternatively, can I change the default folder location for the
documents I create when I press SAVE in an application?

Right-click the Start button, click properties.
Then click customise, then advanced tab..
Scroll down till you see "My Documents" then change it to "display as link"

Open the Start menu, right-click "my documents" properties, then click
"move" and find the folder you want..

Also I hate the way Xp defaults to no icons on the desktop, if you want to
put them back, right-click the desktop, click properties, click the
"desktop" tab, the click "customise desktop", in there you can put my docs
and my computer back on the desktop.

That is neat. Unfortunately I want to have document straight to my
desktop. For some reason this is not possible using the way you
suggest above.

Is there a workaround so I can make the default save location to be
my desktop?

Create a file on the desktop, and put your doc in there..

It is safer to put a shortcut to a file or folder on the desktop.
You can delete the shortcut without affecting the file or folder.
