Is there a way to change the default cell format? Most of
the people I talked to prefer top/left justified and are
constantly changing to this from the default.

You would need to save a workbook as a template Book.xlt, before saving
select all cells
and format the way you want. then save it as template to xlstart. Then do
the same with a sheet
Sheet.xlt that way if you insert a new sheet in a workbook it would also
have the same format.
I hardly change any formats in excel if I am not forced to. That way I can
see if a number is text (left aligned)
A number is a number (right aligned)
