deeper/more conditional statements per cell

Hello,
Will an allowance for more conditional statements per cell come out in newer
releases of Excel? Currently I'm using Office 2003 and Excel allows only 7
conditional statements per cell, this is very limiting. Not to offend but
Lotus years ago allowed far more which was very convenient.

Thanks :)

Unfortunately, the answer to your question is yes. Office 2007 allows up to
64 conditions.

I say unfortunately, because in virtually every case, you are better off
using something else, like Vlookup, rather than nested If statements. It
makes your spreadsheet much easier to maintain.

Regads,
Fred.

Hello Fred,

Sorry, I guess I was not clear, hope this helps...

I've tried to go beyond the 7 nested "IF" statements and Excel states...
"Nest no more than seven functions You can enter, or nest, no more than
seven levels of functions within a function."

The problem is that I end up using several hidden cells to achieve the same
result and then having to write another formula to display the result(s) of
the above mentioned cells. ie. A formula to check for omissions and/or
accidental deletion of formulas in a row that could be used for summarizing a
total based on several unit values and productivities with rates relative to
a known quantity. This formula would be more then 7 conditional statements
deep.
See all of this ties into Excel’s inability to add/insert rows into a
protected sheet, and I’m using 24 protected sheets in which cells in a row
refers back to the previous sheet for results. Since others are using the
spread sheet, having to unprotect the sheets to inserts rows has proven
dangerous as they have deleted/over written the contents of these cells by
not protecting all the sheets when done.

Thankyou :)

Hello again Fred,

Oop's my apologies; you said Office 2007 does this. Great! and thanks!

Unfortunately Vlookup or Hlookup is not the function(s) I need, I'm not
referring to array tables, mind you I do like the array feature!

Thanks again ! :)
