Hello,

I've swapped hard drives and probably updated from XP SP 1 to SP 2 in the
time but I have a small batch of important files that were encrypted a while
ago that I now cannot decrypt or even delete as it says access is denied.
Have I lost them for good? What are my options, apart from ignore them. I
can't even open them.

Encrypting files does more bad than good. :-(

If you have a complete system backup from when you encrypted you may be able
to get the files back. It is likely from what you have described that they
are lost. To delete them take ownership of the files then they can be
deleted.
