Decoding Digital Signals on AIW

I have a AIW 9800 Pro but i can't use the tv tuner because i have
satellite tv. Is there any software program that can decode the
digital signal? or does anyone know of any other way to do this or
know of a tv tuner card that can decode digital signals??

Where are you located? If you are in Europe you may be able to obtain
such a board. In the US the only boards available are the ones that
support NTSC or PAL composite video, S-Video, analog broadcast, or ATSC
digital, which is used for over-the-air broadcast but not for digital
satellite or cable.

If you are in the US and using DirecTV then get a DirecTivo.

The tuner in the AIW can't be used to decode digital signal, wrong frequency
in tuner. Get yourself a DVB-S card.

Well I live in Canada... I've never heard of a DVB-S card, who
manufactures it?? or of DirecTivo. Could you please direct me to
somewhere I can read a bit more about either of them.

If you're in Canada I'm afraid I can't be of much help to you--for
reasons having to do with bureaucracy and the protection of markets, the
satellite equipment used in the US is different from that used in
Canada, and what I know is US-specific.

DirecTivo is not an option in Canada unless you are willing to violate
several laws--if you are willing to do that to do that then google
"DirecTV Canada" and you'll find out everything you need to know. For
the most part DVB-S is not useful in the US so I can't help you there.

YOU CAN USE IT! Just use an S-Video cable from your satellite box out to
the ATI-supplied connection accessory box and then to your display card's
input. That's what I'm doing. It isn't capturing a true digital signal but
it looks pretty decent since it's S-Video, which is better than an analog
cable feed.
