decimals & show totals

I cannot seem to get the decimal to show with zero
example: 500.00 comes out 500 I have tried the format
cell and the format column; also my answer for a sum
continues to show the formula only in the cell.
What am I not doing?? I am on xp with a downloaded office
excel program. HELP!!
 
Sounds like your cells are formatted as text. Format the cell as number or comma, then put in
your formula (Not the other way round).
