decimal two places

I'm trying to enter simple dollars and cents, but if I enter 10.50,
get 10.5. "Help" said to use the "increase decimal" on the formattin
toolbar, but this only applies to one cell. "Help" also said to go t
Format | Cells | Number |Category and enter the number of decima
places desired. I did that but data entered in cells still do not sho
two decimal places.
What am I doing wrong

1)Select a range of cells with the mouse; use the Increase/Decrease Decimal
tools to get the number of decimals you want, OR
2) click on the column heading (e.g. the C in the third column) and do the
above, OR
3) Select a range of cells and use Format|Cells; open the Number tab; click
on the Number item in the Category box and change the number in the value
box to suit you needs, OR
4) Click on a column heading and do as in 3

It really is possible to get this to work without too much trouble - take a
deep breath and carefully follow the instructions.

try the following
- select all your cells for which you want to sho two decimals
- goto 'Format - Cells - Number'. Choose the category 'Number' from the
left listbox and enter your decimal places in the right entry field

You have to select all the cells that need formatting.
