Decimal Point!!

I have come across a prblem when trying to put in a decimal point into
number i.e 12345 to become 123.45. After formatting the cell to th
correct decimal points i find that when i ok it nothing happens, i
stays the same. Also it fails to align within the cell if i ask it t
align central or left. Any of you out there ever experienced this an
have the solution, first time i have known of this, using OfficeXP

Hi Darren
just formating a cell with decimal points won 't change the value of
the cell. If you want to shoe 123.45 you first have to divide the
number 12345 by 100
 
Thanks for the reply, i understand what you are saying but what i mea
is that if i want to format the cells for currency and go to 'Format
then cells - currency and change the decimal place and click ok i fin
that nothing happens

what value is in the cell before you format the cell and what is the
expected display after the formating
