Does anyone know how to complete a debugging procedure.
When I start one, I get to a point where there does not
seem to be further options and when I exit, a message
asks if I want to stop debugging. At this point in the
process I just click yes and get out. Any suggestions?

Do don't really want to go there:

With Internet Explorer open - go to Tools>Advanced - enable 'Disable script debugging' - OK your way out
