My baby must've gotten dropped.... It's an HP Pavilion from a few years ago. If opened more than halfway, the screen seems to loose its signal and goes black. Tilt it too par and it loses power completely. Strange, but it can be worked around. (I just can't ever close it.)

So today my boss reaches out and grabs the monitor and tilts it back, and of course it shut off. I restart it, and lo and behold, most of the top row of letter keys has stopped working. Thrilling, because now I can't log into XP.

What do I do?

I know, I know - send it in, right? But I want to back it up first to CD. Any back-way I can get into it?

Lose connector? faulty monitor?
If you cannot access the screen you cannot backup, short of removing hd
