deactivating XP

I would like to transfer xp from one computer to another.

Is it necessary to deactivate on the old computer - If so
how do I do it?

You cannot deactivate. However, you can remove XP from your current
computer, install it on the computer to which you wish to move it, run
activation on the new system. It will likely give you a phone number to
call. When you call, tell them what you've done and that you've removed XP
from the old computer and they will probably give you a new activation
number.
