Deactivating XP on PC which I was not paid for

Does anyone know if it is possible to contact Microsoft
and ask them about deactivating XP. A supposed friend
wanted me to upgrade their computer and so I bought a new
hard drive and XP Home and installed it, activated it,
but I have never been paid for the HD or XP. Since I'm
not a "business" and just help family or friends, I was
curious if I could have Microsoft deactivate the copy of
XP as I have the Product Key still, but that is all I
have other than name, address, etc.

Any ideas or suggestions other than get the money up
front, would be sincerely appreciated.

No, there is nothing Microsoft can do for you. Take the person to Small
Claims Court or chalk it up to one of Life's Little Hard Lessons. Make
a voodoo doll of your false friend, stick pins in it or whatever helps
constructively get rid of your anger, and Move On.
