De-alphabetize the Start menu?

In Windows Vista, no matter where I drag Start menu icons, they revert to
alphabetical order when I close and re-open the Start menu. I am using
Classic view with small icons, not the default wide-pane view.

I'd rather have commonly used shortcuts near the bottom and similar apps
grouped together. Surely this can be done, just like drag-sorting IE
Favorites? In WinXP it was the default method.

if you use the vista start menu u can turn off sorting. I don't see an
option in the classic menu view...

If that's the only option I'll have to prefix each shortcut with 01, 02,
03...etc.. I have to assume there's a fix. The default wide Start menu is
less user friendly for me.
