DDR 400 with A7N8X Deluxe

Looking to add 512MB RAM to my system.

Currently have one stick of 512MB PC3200.

Should I buy another stick of 3200, or just get 2700? Not sure how to
get the Dual-Channel DDR to work.

If you want to use dual channel they need to be the same. i.e. same brand
same size and same speed. In other words matched pairs

I've got different brands and sizes in my machine and it works fine.

Only thing that needs to be the same is the speed as far as I can tell.

They don't have to be the same at all, there is no such thing as matched
pairs, it's marketing BS.

That doesn't matter either

You should get another PC3200 stick and run the FSB and RAM both at 200MHz,
IMHO.

The memory sticks do NOT have to be matched.

Okay, I purchased another stick of 3200, ended getting the same brand
and model, even though you don't have too, and it is running in Dual
mode! Awesome.

Now, Ben, tell me about running at 200MHz. I have an Athlon XP 2200. I
have not attempted to go from 133 to 200, because I thought that I
couldn't. Can I? Will that cause more heat?

Thanks,

Lux

I think a 2200+ has a multiplier of 13 or above?

You'll need to change that in order to push your FSB up, but thats easier
said than done. Wire in the socket mod for the 5th bit is probably the
easiest.

If you have a Tbred B you should be able to get a FSB of 200MHz... if not
just take it as high as it's happy, I can't see 166MHz being a major
problem. It depends on your setup and I have no direct experience of
Tbreds.
