DC's randomly rebooting

After updating the schema for SMS 2003 a couple of weeks ago we have had
numerous servers suddenly start rebooting them selves (unpredictably) some
every half hour while others every day or 2.

Always with the following error repeated 3 times.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: NTDS General
Event Category: (9)
Event ID: 1173
Date: 11/26/2004
Time: 3:50:43 PM
User: Everyone
Computer: SERVER1
Description:
Internal event: Exception c0000005 has occurred with parameters 757d4400 and
0 (Internal ID 0).

This occurs on SP3 and SP4 machines and we have tried every hotfix currently
available (MS04-011 too) but we still have the problem.

DC's have been rebuilt, removed re-added but nothing stops this. Help!!!

MS paid support have been unable to help (apart from the usual suggestions
of latest SP and rebuild your entire WINS and DNS infrastructure !!!!)

Yes, I have tried Q824226 and also Q828297 which supercedes that hotfix.

Unfortunately MS have all but admitted they don't have a clue what is going
wrong, in the meantime I have an unstable environment.

I had the same problem on one of my servers after upgrading one of the
applications on it. Before the upgrade, I had not had a problem. After
getting the same reply as you from microsoft. I eventually contacted the
support desk for the server manufacturer (in my case Compaq). They told me
that they had seen several instances of servers rebooting themselves for no
reason at all. They got me to check the version of the bios and told me to
upgrade to the latest version. Since then I have had no repeats of it
rebooting. I would check the bios version and then see what the updates if
any are available.

Yes, I must admit I've had servers rebooting in a somewhat random
fashion -although it was the NIC driver causing a STOP and the error setting
forcing the reboot. Downloading the latest PSP and installing the updated
drivers resolved this issue -looks like one or two flavours of the GL/ML
series NIC driver don't like NT 5.x
