DCHP not clearing

Hi,

i'm having a major issue with our DHCP server. At our company there is
a lot of coming and going so i set the lease duration to 4 hours. The
problem is that even when ppl leave and their lease expires (the icon
meaning: "Expired lease: this address is available for lease by the
DHCP server" shows) the DHCP server won't re-use that adress...

That way the DHCP scope fills up quickly. The only option i currently
have is to wait for a complaint and then manually delete the "unused"
adresses.

Any ideas?

thanks

Jo,

I am facing a similar problem with Server 2000. Working my way through MS'
s online documentation I can across and interesting piece that mentioned
something along the lines that even though a lease expires, the server keeps
the workstation and IP address in some kind of memory space for another 24
hours. The idea being that if the machine comes back on the net and request
the address, the server dishes out the same. However, if the DHCP needs the
address for another machine, it is suppose to offer the address.

We end up dong the same thing as you. Delete and renter the scope.

If you find another answer, please let me know.

Cheers,

Mac
