In running dcdiag on our network, I received an error on
one of our servers. The error stated: "No record of File
Replication System, SYSVOL started. The Active Directory
may be prevented from starting."

The next line stated the server passed the test
frssysvol.

Any help would be great. Thanks, Steve

Make sure SYSVOL is being shared. Go to right-click My Computer | Manage | Shared folders | Shares | at the bottom you should have three entries:

Shared folder: NETLOGON
Shared Path: C:\WINNT\sysvol\sysvol\hesterloli.com\SCRIPTS
Type: Windows
# Client Rediections: 0
Comment: Logon Server Share

Shared folder: print$
Shared path: C:\WINNT\System32\spool\drivers
Type: Windows
# Client Rediections: 0
Comment: Printer Drivers

Shared folder: SYSVOL
Shared path: C:\WINNT\sysvol\sysvol
Type: Windows
# Client Rediections: 0
Comment: Logon Server Share

You may have different values for the 4th item above in each.

The next thing to check is the Share Permissions tab:

For SYSVOL I have:

Adiministrator: Full (Domain Admin)
Authenticated Users: Full
Everyone: Read

For Security tab I have:

Administrators: Full
Authenticated Users: R, RX, and List
Creator Owner: (blank)
Server Operators: R, RX, and List
System: Full

These are the defaults.
