Day of the Perseids

Hi Jon

Those pesky Triffids can cause problems even to those who did not see the
meteor shower, as Bill Masen found out when he removed the bandages.

Have you laid in stocks of weedkiller or do you have a handy flamethrower
for when the garden grows restless tomorrow?

Be careful. Anastas.

Fight 'em by fire I reckon.

The triffids are probably immune to weedkiller, seeing that they're likely
to be offshoots of Monsanto's genetically modified plant experiments. If
they're immune to 'Roundup' then they'll be immune to anything chemcally
based.

A triffid gun is another option. I'm trying to get hold of a usb version
that works in conjunction with webcam software to obliterate triffids on
sight.

Ahh... brings back memories of being terrified by the BBC TV series of The
Day of the Triffids - back in 1981 Wikipedia informs me.

Has there been a recent film adaptation? About time, if there isn't - a
cracking story.

Yeah, it's the sort of story that remains in your mind for life - and I
agree it was a cracking story. The series was very true to the book, which I
especially liked.

I did read something recently about the BBC making a newer version, but I
don't know how far they've progressed with it.

I look forward to seeing the new BBC production.
I wonder if it will give me nightmares and scare me rigid like it did when I
was 11?

Quite possible. Those were scary days. I remember having a similar reaction
to Dr Who's battle with the "Green death" around the same time.

I'd like to see a version of The Night of the Triffids
:)
