Hello,

I have an excel spreadsheet that I received. In a column
that I want to set up as a date, I formated the cells in
the column for MM/DD/YY. This works for some of the
values in that column and they align right just as a date
should. The remainder of the values do not accept the
format stayed aligned left and are still text and not
date, even though the format in the cell says MM/DD/YY.

I was wondering if any one could tell me how to change the
values that appear to be dates but are text to dates. I
can go into the cell, just select it and get out and this
solves the problem. I wouldn't mind doing this except I
would have to do it about 170,000 times.

Thanking you in advance for your help,

Tom

In an empty cell, type 1, select Edit Copy, select range of dates, select paste
special and select multiply

It sounds like some of your dates are really text. Select
a blank cell and Copy; select the "bad" date cells and
click Paste Special Values--then do Add. You'll probably
have to re-do the cell formats, but that should work.
