Dates for Y-Axis labels

I'm creating a bar chart using dates for y-axis labels. Even though I put in
the actual date (mm/dd/yy format), the labels are all being illustrated as
mm/01/yy format - it always has 01 for the day. I'm importing the data from
Excel and have played with formats both in the Excel data and the y-axis in
the PPT chart but always get the incorrect labels.

Hopefully I'm missing something easy, but don't know what it is.

as always, any help is appreciated.

Try, in excel to format the date cells as text, prior to importing.

If you select the axis, go to Format/Axis, and head to the Number tab, you
should have a Date category there on the left. Select that, and then in the
right, select the format you want. That should work in both Excel and in
PPT. If that doesn't have the format you want, then choose Custom in the
category list and type mm/dd/yyyy (or whatever) into the box on the right.

If those don't work, then post back with some details -- maybe a sample of
what you've typed in your axis and what exactly you're doing to format them.

I'd also suggest just going ahead and creating the graph in Excel since
you're already there. You can bring the chart into PPT with a copy/paste.
And you can even recolor it to match your slide with just a couple of
clicks. (Check this page I'm still working on --
http://www.echosvoice.com/charts.htm ) So why bother importing the data into
PPT if you don't have to?
