When producing letters, reports and quotations I insert
the current date as shown in the format picked. I do not
click the box for automatic update, but when I go back
into the saved letter etc, I find that the computer has
automatically updated. This proves difficult, especially
if a customer wants a copy at a later date. The only way
I can get around the problem at the moment is to type in
the date when needed. It seems a shame when the format is
already there on the computer. Can someone tell me how to
get around this problem! Many thanks.

This is not a problem is is a feature.

Perhaps you had the "Update Automtically" box checked when you did the date
insert.

Sorry I didn't completely read your message - you had said you did not have
this checked.

Hello Jenny,

What application are you using to select the date? If you're inserting a
date as a field in Word, for example, it is dynamic -- it will change to
reflect the actual date/time.

If you have inserted the date as a field, you can change it to regular text
by highlighting the date field and pressing CTRL+SHIFT+F9. This will break
the link. Then, whatever date is inserted will remain as entered.
