a few days ago our windows sbs 2003 standard server with services for
macintosh was downed by apc ups (uninterruptable power source)
software because of a power failure(no power for more than 40min) and
thereafter all folders of the mac volumes had the date modified of
just that time. this causes problems to our work on sorting,
controlling and backing up.
how can we workaround this issue ?

I suspect that your Mac volume index may be corrupt and may need to be
rebuilt (reindexed).

A nifty trick I've seen involves intentionally corrupting the
AFP_IdIndex file by doing the following:

1) Identify the folder on the server that is shared as the Mac volume.
(e.g. "MacVol" on the E: drive).

2) In a command prompt type "dir > e:\MacVol:AFP_IdIndex".

3) Stop and restart the File Services for Macintosh service. This will
force the server to rebuild the AFP index.

Hope this helps! bill
