date format to dd/mm/yyyy

this one is driving me crazy...seems the default for access 2003 is
mm/dd/yyyy. Even though I have changed it to dd/mm/yyyy under format in the
field properties in the table, it will change it back to mm/dd/yyyy
immediately. As a result any date after the 12th of the month is entered
wrong (the dates are entered via a form, tried changing the form properties
but...). Any other way of doing it? Obviously "short date"doesn't work as
it is mm/dd/yyyy.

thanks in advance

* Have you checked the Date / Time settings in the Regional Settings of your
OS?

* The Format Property only affect the *display* of the value, NOT how it
should be entered.
