Date format problem

Hi,

As part of a large suite of software we have an Excel spreadsheet which
takes some date values from fields in an Access table using DDE. The fields
in the Access database are just text fields, and we know that the data in
them will always be in the form dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm.

When the Excel spreadsheet grabs the data, it is displayed in the cell, but
subsequent calculations only seem to work if the Regional Setting in Control
Panel is set to English (United Kingdom). If it is set to English (United
Sates) the day and month are interpreted the wrong way round as you would
expect.

I would like to make it so that this will work regardless of the Regional
Setting in Control Panel, and have tried various cell formatting etc. But
however the data is displayed, it always seems to be interpreted as defined
in the Regional Settings.

Does anyone know a way to make this work for any setting in Regional
Settings?

Thanks Gary. My situation is not quite the same, but I think the
information may lead to a result.
