date format problem

In a table using access 2000 I can make a column's date format
as mm/dd/yy.
I am not able to do this in 2002. I get mm/dd/yyyy
Is there another way for a format date for mm/dd/yy?
example: 12/12/04

What do you mean "I am not able to do this"? When you open the table in
design mode, select the field set to date/time data type, and drop-down the
format property, are you saying you DON'T have a mm/dd/yy-type selection?

I'm perplexed too. Why can't you set it? What happens if you open the
table in design view, select the field, and type

mm/dd/yy

in the Format property (rather than using the dropdown box)?

That is correct. The closest one is dd/mm/yy
I need a mm/dd/yy as in 12/12/04 not 12-Dec-04.
I looked all over and nothing. This is probably going to end up
in a code procedure somewhere. Why does it have to be so hard.

I tried and can't save the table. I get a window telling me to select the
drop down and pick one of those selections. None of which I need.
I went into the input mask and in there you have the ability to create your
own format. However, I tried many ways and just can't hit it yet.

That is TRULY bizarre. What version of Access are you using? Exactly
where are you trying to set the Format property? What specific error
message do you get?

A getaround would be to create a Form (for onscreen viewing or
editing) and or a Report (for printing), and set the Format property
of the Textbox in which you display this field... but I don't have any
idea why Access isn't letting you set the format in the table field's
Format property!
