Date changes when cutting and pasting dates to new workbook /works

I have inherited a workbook which was originally created on a MAC machine
using MAC Excel. We have changed the company harware and softwre and now use
XP and Excel 2003.
When I copy cells with dates from the old workbook to a new workbook the
date changes to one that is totally different. For example 15/02/2007 becomes
14/02/2003. I have formatted the cloumn as an english style date format in
the new and old workbooks.

Any assistance would be appreciated. PS if I copy the text of the date only
and NOT the cell then it is OK

The MAC machine, by default, uses the 1904 date system.

The Windows machine, by default, uses the 1900 date system.

The dates differ by 4 years and one day.

On the Excel 2003 workbook:

Tools/Options/Calculation
Select 1904 date system.
