Database Size!

C

Crispy

I am making up a Record and Album Database and want to add pictures of the
covers.

When I first did it with 1200 albums and CD's the database grew to close on
2Gb very quickly although the pictures I am inserting are a max of 30K each!
Also, the pics are LINKED and NOT embedded. SO I am surprised it gets
sooooooo big!

How can I ensure I can add the pictures but also keep the database to a
handlable size? In other words still have reasonable looking cover pictures
but a database that can continue to be added to?

Thanks in advance.

(Apologies if this has already arrived - Seemed not to have been posted!)

Look at www.lebans.com for a database containing examples of how to store
pictures in databases (or rather outside of the database). Access does not
hanlde OLE object, linked or embedded, very well and usually you do not want
to store them in the database but rather a path to them.

Hope that helps.
