Database on Server...Security not operating properly

I put my database on our server and then ran the security wizard. Everything
works fine when I run it on my computer. The shortcut works perfect,
prompting me for username and password. When I go to one of my co-workers
computers to run it, the shortcut icon is not recognized as an Access file.
If we click on it, it just sits there and browses. The security file is in
the same place. What am I missing? I have tried reading through some of the
previous posts but noone seems to describe the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Maybe you used mapped network drive addresses to point to resources instead
of the unc (universal naming convention) path? I'm far from an expert, but
that came to mind.... Maybe a search for that term will "point you in the
right direction", so to speak ......(*hides*).

Good luck,
CW

PS: You could easily just delete the shortcut at the new location and make
another one. That should solve the problem that would occur if you created a
shortcut on one computer and then tried to copy it to, and use it, on another.

Another potential issue could be with network permissions. Is it possible
that your computer has rights to a drive/server that the "new" computer that
you're attemptiing to run your app on does NOT?

I'd still say my first post is more likely to be useful than this one, but
neither may pan out for you.

Good luck,
CW

What does the shortcut point to? The exe or the mdb - mde?

Could you post the properties of the shortcut?

I suggest if you have not already read:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];207793

The name of the shortcut ends in mdb, but in the properties it shows a
target as

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE"
"I:\Finance\Data\Access\2006 Cobb Action Items.mdb" /WRKGRP
"I:\Finance\Data\Access\Security.mdw"

The shortcut was automatically created when I ran the wizard. I am not sure
what other properties you want me to post.

Thanks for all of the help!

Try manually accessing both:

I:\Finance\Data\Access\2006 Cobb Action Items.mdb

and

I:\Finance\Data\Access\Security.mdw

from the problem computer. Make sure it is there and that the "I" drive
maps the exact same way.
