Database locks up when try to use the scroll bar

When I am in Tables or Queries objects folders, and open a particular file,
then close it, and the try to go to a different file in the same folder where
I have to use the scroll bar to get there, the database locks up. To solve
the problem, if I am in Tables, I can then click on the Queries folder and
click back to the Tables folder and the database unlocks and lets me go to a
different file. I must have accidently turned on some control that won’t let
me go from file to file if I have to use the scroll bar in the same folder.
What can I do so I won’t have to change folders to go to a different file?

cokerr,

I have never observed this behavior, nor do I know of any option that could
effect these results. That being said, to try and troubleshoot this going
to need a wee bit more information...

1. What version of Access?
2. Where are these folders? Or do you mean the Database Container and the
Objects 'tab' on the left? (Of course, that does vary based on what version
of Access.)
3. Have you installed ALL the updates?
4. Are you running an Anti-Virus software?
5. Never seen this but, do you have Name AutoCorrect unchecked?
6. Have you tried reinstalling Access and/or Office?
7. Is it a split database? If yes, are the tables in an .mdb or SQl Server?
8. Have you tried importing everything into a new database?

Hi Gina!

I am running Access 2003. The "folders" I refer to are the "Objects" on the
left side of the screen. I have installed the updates and I have Norton as my
anti-virus protection. I will check to see if Name AutoCorrect is unchecked.
I have not tried re-installing Access. It is not a split database and I have
not tried recently to import data. It has not been that big a problem, so I
have not tried measures such as re-installing Access.

Thanks for your reply.

cokerr,

First thing is turn off you Anti-Virus, create a new database and make sure
Name AutoCorrect is unchecked and then import all your objects into the new
database. Open the database? Same results or is all right with the world?
Oh, you can turn back on your Anit-Virus now!
