Database is read-only?

Hi all,

I am having some trouble with an Access database. Basically it is just
a copy of a database we use at work with dummy information it in so we
can test stuff on it. I copied it to a disk and took it home so I could
work on it at home. I put it on a server I have at home and tried
opening it up from my client computer (I'm trying to mimic my work
environment here). When I open it though it says it is read-only.

I have checked the properties on the database and it is not read-only.
I have also made sure that Full Control has been granted to all users
for the folder in which the database resides.

Any other ideas as to what might be wrong with this?

Thanks.

Any time you copy a file to CD it gets marked read-only, at the Windows
level (not within Access). Right mouseclick the file name in Windows
Explorer and view its Properties - I suspect the Read Only checkbox is
checked. Uncheck it and you'll be fine.

I assume that was a CD. CD's are by nature read only, and all files are
made read only when put on the disk. You can copy the file off the disk and
then set the file properties and you should be fine.

No..it was copied to a USB memory stick and I already checked the
properties in Windows Explorer to clear out the Read-Only checkmark.
That's what I meant by checking the properties on the database file.
Sorry for the confusion.

Any other ideas?
