Database is locked by user xxxx

I have 1 Access 2000 db w/ approx 35 users that occasionally locks users out
with a message stating something to the effect of "the database has been
placed in state by user "xxxx" that prevents it from being opened by another
user" etc.

I also have a different 2002 dbase with approx 7 users that occasionally
does the same thing. Any ideas what causes this or how to prevent it? TIA!

Do any users have permission for design view on any objects? I usually
get this when one user has an unsaved change to an object in design
view. Not sure if this is the same problem, though.

HTH,
Barry

Thanks but I have no security groups set up and no permissions in place so I
don't think that could be it.

If you have no permissions/groups, then everyone has permission to do
anything and anyone should be able to go to design view.
