database interface wizard template frontpage 2003

i can not get the database interface wizard template using the file - new
new web site - more web site templates and all selections of data base are
grayed out.

i am using frontpage 2003, windowsxp prof. the host includes Front page
extensions, and has asp and asp.net enabled.

check the boxes:

Browse time web components
Author time web components
VBScript
Active Server Pages

I have all checked but I am still unable to get database wizard to work.
Wizard is not greyed out I rec'v error that I can not use database interface
wizard with sharepoint services 2.0

This sounds like a server issue.

Make sure that your site is on a True Windows Server with the FP Server
extensions installed.

If it is on a Linux box with FP extensions, you will be able to host a
Frontpage site, but it will having some limitations.
You will be able to publish, make changes and maintain your site, but that
will be about it.

One limitation is that the database feature will be greyed out because it is
not a Windows server.
Another limitation be active server scripts. That is .asp file extension
will not work.
And don't even think about Sharepoint.

Verify with your ISP what type of server OS that you are setup with. If it
is Apache or Unix, then it will not work.
