Hello Helpers
Can anyone tell me if its possible to build a website in Front Page 2003
that mainly shows ads and allows users place there own ads on the site them
selves?
Example site is http://www.gumtree.com or can anyone tell me what type of
pages/system they use ? Thanks Kez

The site you indicated is using a CGI-Perl based application. You can find a wide range of
pre-written application in CGI-Perl, PHP, ASP, ASP.net, CFM, which one to use will depending what
your web server supports.

Once you know what your host supports, you can type that in the IE Address bar as:

? ASP Classifieds Application

or

? ASP Portal Application

Looks like it uses perl scripts.

www.ezscripting.co.uk has great scripts using flat-file csv text file database -
which might suit you. Very easy instructions, but takes a bit of setting up.
You might have trouble getting to this URL, but it is the correct site.

They offer a free version of the scripts (edit, write, search and read scripts)

You can design your results pages to your site design because they use templates

Anyway, look the site over, have a look at the samples.

However there might be something more specific such as "classified ads" kind of
scripts available.

Else you could experiment with the database results wizard/interface wizard in
frontpage, requires access database, IIS, server extensions, windows 2K server
and higher.
