data recovery possible?

Is there any way to recover copied information? I've been copying and pasting
some information, and that got me to thinking about what would happen if I
did a second copy before pasting the first--is it possible to retrieve the
information from the first copy command, or is it totally lost?

Recopy it. Every time you copy, you overwrite what was previously stored.

And what if you copy a message or some info from a pop-up window which then
closes, and you can't go back to recopy it--is it irretrievable in such cases?

If you didn't paste it after copying, consider it gone when you again copy.
Pasting saves the copy.
