Data Lost From Upgrade to 2007

We just upgraded our Office 2002 to Office 2007. Now I am hearing and seeing
that we may have some data that was changed??? Could this happen? For
instance we have dates of when classes start and end and the start date was
changed to 7/25/07 on a few classes. This could have been around the date of
the upgrade but all of our data is on the server so I don't see how that can
happen. Is this possible? It also seems that the sort order has changed in
some of our forms and reports. Is this typical?

Thanks for any help with this.

Access 2007 can open an Access 2002 format file and use it natively. It is
extremely unlikely that the dates were messed up by using the file in A2007
or by converting to the new ACCDB format.

Other factors are more likely. For example, if you also changed your Windows
at the same time, the Regional Settings (in Windows Control Panel) may be
different, and so the dates may be displayed differently. For example, if
you previously had m/d/y format but now have d/m/y format, then what you
previously saw as 1/2/07 will now appear as 2/1/07.

If the sort order changed, perhaps the Locale changed. Or perhaps the sort
order was undefined (i.e. the Sorting And Grouping in the report was not
adequately defined.) Or perhaps the data type of calculated fields was
ambiguous, so Access is not behaving consistently. For this last one, see:
Calculated fields misinterpreted
