Jane

I am creating simple horizontal bar graphs using data such
as:

apples 10.9%
oranges 11.1%
banadas 78.0%

I want:
1) the bars' data labels to be accurate to one decimal
place.
AND
2) the y-axis labels to have no decimal places (ie:
20%,40%,... NOT 20.0% 40.0%,...)

If I change the data from the table to no decimals place,
I get 2) OK but then lose the accuracy I want in the data
labels.

Any advice?

Thank-you so much.

Hi Jane,
1) Right click the y-axis, select Format axis from popup menu,
2) Open the Number tab and set the number of decimals to show
3) Right click on a data label value, select Format Data Label,
4) On Number tab set number of decimals to dimply

By the way- since your numbers on the y-axis, you are making a Column chart
not a Bar chart in Excel terminology
Any you should be talking about precision not accuracy.
Sorry for dropping into professor mode!
Best wishes
Bernard

Hi Jane,

You should be able to format the Y axis to have no decimal places
without affecting the data labels.
Select Y axis press CTRL+1 adjust number format to suit.

Cheers

Actually, Bernard, a bar chart has a vertical X axis and horizontal Y
axis, preserving the implied cause and effect.
