data image files

help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!problem.When i try to open downloaded
video or music/picture files (.dat, .mix, exe etc)windows
wont open them.I get message windows cannot open these
files as does not know what created them.Subsequent web
search is u/s. is there any driver or software I can
download to access these files?

None of those that you list are common audio/video media types. If these
are specialty files, open them with the program that created them. EXE
files are usually programs.
