Data File Size

As a new user to Front Page and web design, I need some advise.

I have copied a small file from Excel to FrontPage as a test environement.
The file was for about 150 formated records. The full size will be about 5000
records.
Front Page did an excellent job of displaying the data in table format but
when I check the size of the file it is just over 1mb which would make it a
very slow page to access. Looking at the code, it seems to generate formating
information for each record.

Can someone advise me of a good means of displaying record data which will
be quick to load but formatted reasonably well.
