Data Execution Prevention

I have been trying to install Windows Defender, but I received an error
message about Date Execution Preventation(DEP), that this program is not
suitable. So I tried by turning off the DEP for windows installer, so now
the windows defender has been installed on my computer, but everytime I try
to run it, I receive this error message "This application has failed to start
because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-intalling the application may fix this
problem." I have re-installed it, but I am still receiving this error.

Can someone help me with this?

Thanks

Yes - Find, in the \program files\windows defender folder, a file named:

msascui.exe.manifest

Note the .manifest on the end.

Delete just that file (the one suffixed manifest)

That should take care of the error.

Great. You might also consider running an update install--start, control
panel, add or remove programs, Windows Defender, change, update.

This error and the problem you had with the install make me wonder whether
there might be other issues with this installation which this update
reinstall might help with.
