I am trying to open a file that I saved yesterday in
Quark and my hard drive just clicks and the program hangs.
When I try and copy that file I get the message "Data
Error - cyclic redundancy check"
What does that mean?
I really need to fix that file as it is a 4 page
newsletter with photos etc, and a few hours of work.

Hi!
This error message could be generated by any of the
following reasons:

During the transmission of the file it became corrupt or
bad
The file was sent inappropriately
The device being opened from is bad or contains errors
The file itself is bad or the program attempting to open
the file is bad.
If the file is being opened from the hard disk drive or
other media it is likely that the file is corrupted or
the program opening the file is corrupted.

Download the file again.
Reinstall the program being used to open the file
Attempt to open with a different program
If the file is on the hard disk drive run Chkdisk /
defrag
