Data Access Pages

I have been asked to design a database that would have a web based front end.
This seems like a good application of a data access page. That said, I have
never created one before and I would like a few ideas of the advantages and
limitations before I get to deep into the woods.

I am running Access 2003. As I understand it, users can manipulate data
using a web browser. Can it be any browser, or does it have to IE?
Can I essential publish an existing form, keeping validation measures intact
(keeping dates as dates, dynamic combo boxes, etc.)?
Do the users of the pages need to have Access?

If you can think of any other pieces of information that would helpful,
please let me know. Questions are welcome.

Thanks!

Using DAP? Very bad idea and if your intended users are not all on a local
LAN - for example they're on the internet (WAN) - then definitively not the
way to go.

There is a newsgroup about DAP: m.p.a.dataaccess.pages but it's nearly dead
by now and IMHO, you should use something else - like ASP.NET - to make your
web based front end.

PJ:

This is much too hard to do in Acces or using ASP.net. I think a much easier
and better alternative is an access competitor application called Alpha Five.
You can build web pages with NO programming in a couple of hours. Instead of
writing complex code, you merely drag'n drop components. The application is
so easy to use and so powerful, you will initially have a hard time believing
that is the case. Believe PJ, it is true.

You can check it out for yourself at www.alphasoftware.com
