Data Access Page question

I have built a little Access database for a small departmental data control
project but it won't be practical unless there is some front end data entry
mechanism for the 5-6 people who will be using it. I would like to avoid
using an Excel spreadsheet, import-type of solution. But currently, Access is
not on everyone's desktop, I'm not sure corporate wants to propogate it so I
thought a Data Access Page would be a handy solution. If I understand Data
Access pages correctly, the application Access is not needed on a users
deskop, just a current enough version of IE. But it appears as though some XP
web components are required even on a desktop that does not have Access but
appears to have a current enough version of IE. ... So my questions are:

1. Is it true that the Access application is not needed on a desktop in
order to use a Data Access page from IE from that node to enter data?

2. If true, what is the best way to find out what is needed in terms of
additional Web controls.

Thanks!

You don't need Access as the Office Web Components can be downloaded and
installed separately on a client machine:

For Office 2003:

For Office 2002:

However, I'm not sure if DAP are really this handy solution that you think
of: they are easy to start with but they will become rapidly a pain in the
a** for doing anything but the simplest things. You may also have trouble
to set up the security correctly if you are running Vista or IE7. The
newsgroup for DAP is m.p.a.dataaccess.pages .

Thanks. This is what I need. I hope that this will work because it is a
simple data entry page and I doubt these machines will get updated soon. But
.... I will let the owner of this project know about the caveats and let her
decide.
