telling us the program to which the data files belong, we can
only suggest any text editor if the content is readable text or
any hex editor for all other cases.

depends, as BeAr said, on what program created the files.

On a Palm computer? Then you still don't have a definition of format,
since .dat on Palm OS can be almost any data file, including plain
text files. I didn't think Nero addressed anything Palm. If you move
one of the files to your PC and look at it with a hex editor, you may
get an idea of what it is.
