Darwinian award winner here!! - deleted my trial Outlook 2007....

Oh, man, I've taken too many painkillers for this illness I'm dealing
with. I deleted Outlook 2007 assuming that my old Outlook 2003 would be
waiting for me to come home. Yeah, I know, I'm brilliant. No Outlook 2003,
no Outlook 2007 available to be reinstalled. Contacts are gone; all emails
for the past year are gone..and I can barely sit-up for longer than ten
minutes.
Is there any hope of being able to restore all my lost data either via
Outlook 2003 or trial 2007? Naturally I forgot to back-up everything when I
installed the trial and I missed the message about installing the trial with
Outlookk 2003 already present.
My body is really ill and at this point it would be good to know if there
is any hope of recovering my Contacts, Calendar, Folders, and Email from
Outlook 2003. You have no idea how grateful I am for any assistance
whatsoever, including whether or not knowing if the situation is hopeless so
I can just move on. I sincerely thank you, --- Jerri

I feel your pain!

I'm not an expert, but here's my 2 cents worth. Try reinstalling outlook
2003 or 2007. It wasn't clear if you still had the disks to do that or not.
If you don't, you can download the trial version (good for 60 days) of MS
Office 2007, which contails Outlook 2007, from the MS Office web site. Your
data may still all be there. If it works, at least you have access to your
data and you can back up/archive the data before deleting.

Good luck!

LAST RESORT!!!
I really appreciate your taking the time to respond --- Miracles do exist!
I have all my data and will report the procedures here for others who make
the same mistake. Really, thank you for your help -- I wish I could somehow
repay you --- if you're looking for any music by the Grateful Dead, Jerry
Garcia, or Robert Hunter then I can certainly provide you with a small token
of my appreciation.

My laptop is: HP Compaq nx6125, WindowsXP Pro, SP 2, AMDTurion 64
(originally installled Office 2003 Standard 8-months ago and downloaded trial
of Office 2007 Small Business about three days ago).

1.) "Fatal error" message upon trying to re-install either just Outlook 2003
or all of Office 2003 -- multiple attempts, rebooting, etc., etc., but no
luck.

Note: 1-A.) Intermittently utilized the "Windows Diagnostic Tool" after
the initial dumb-ass mistake and then periodically throughout the
troubleshooting but it kept reporting that there were no problems.

2.) Tried to repair the trial Office 2007 Bus Mgr ("Control Panel >
Add/Remove/Change") but no luck (did this multiple times before posting the
request for assistance as well as after the "fatal error" message above.)

3.) Downloaded new trial app of Office 2007 "Business Manager" (same as the
original trial download) but Outlook 2007 was unavailable for install (all
red "x" marks) -- no luck troubleshooting around that roadblock.

4.) Downloaded trial of Office 2007 Professional under a new user-name and
email address and was able to successfully install Outlook 2007 ---
everything perfect!

Note: I mention the "new user-name and email address" not as a means of
trying to rip-office Microsoft but trying to change one of the variables that
I had not changed in all the previous steps. == I have absolutely no idea
whether it makes any difference; in fact, it probably made no difference
whatsoever but I'm just trying to be as accurate as possible here -- I think
the upgrade to the new trial product "Professional" versus original
"Business" application may have played a role in allowing me to install
Outlook.

AND, YES, THOUGH I AM A CERTIFIED DARWINIAN, I AM NOW LEARNING BACK-UP
PROCEDURES!!!

I apologize if this response is too long for this forum, however I feel it
is worth it if just one other person is able to learn from my mistakes.

THANK YOU "LAST RESORT!" Let me know if you need any music mentioned above.
All the best -- in all-ways, - Jerri

Jerri,

Glad to hear that it worked for you, althought it wasn't as staight forward
as what I thought it would be.

My repayment is knowing it worked out for you.

Take care.
