Daily scan not running

Daily scan not running. It's scheduled to run at 9 P.M. I have WD Ver
1.1.1593.0,
Engin 1.1.2204.0, Def 1.15.2329.4

Everything was going great until Feb 19. I was out of town and shut off
computer.

On return and boot WD told me that I had not scanned for 3 days. I ran a
scan and it down loaded Def 1-15.2303.1 2/21 It has not done a daily scan
sense that date.

On 2/28 I removed WD using the ADD/Change and down loaded WD and did a scan.
It update the def to 1.15.2329.4

The WD scheduler is set to run at 9PM and the box to enable scheduled task
is checked.

The scheduled tasked shows that MP Scheduled "Schedule" at 9 PM every day.
"next run time: 9 pm 3/6 "last run time" 3/5 'status" is
blank.

What do I need to do to get the daily scan to show in the WD

Try running a repair--start, control panel, add or remove programs, Windows
Defender, click here for support information, repair. I know this seems
much the same as the reinstall that you did--but either this procedure or
the "update" (instead of "click here" choose change, update, over on the
right..) have fixed this issue for others.

Bill, I ran the repair, per your instructions, and when finished is did a
quick scan and down loaded an update. two 9pms have past and in has not
done a daily scan

Still working on it.

Try turning off the scheduled scan, restarting the machine, and then turning
it back on again.

One question is whether the scans are, in fact, being run, but just not
showing up in the Windows Defender UI. There will be entries for the scan
jobs in both the scheduler's log, and in the Windows System event log.

Scheduler--go to the scheduled tasks control panel app, and see Advanced,
view log.

System Events log--right click My computer, choose Manage, click the + in
front of
event viewer to expand, click System, scroll down in the right pane to the
time of the scan. double click or highlight and hit enter to see details
for a particular entry.

Turned off scheduled scan and rebooted. started scan. At the scheduled
time 7:00 PM the Scheduler log returned " MP Scheduled 7:00:00 PM
MPCMDRUN.EXE at 7:00:01 Task completed with exit code of (2)

There was nothing the Event Viewer , SYSTEM for 7 PM

Interesting. If you want to look at the history, you can see it at:

start, run, notepad %systemroot%\schedlgu.txt

I haven't found what exit code 2 is yet, but I'm looking. Offhand, since
there's nothing in the system event log, I'd guess that it is something
which is preventing the job from starting at all.

Interesting that your auto-scan ceased about the same time mine did. (See
nearby thread titled "Defender corruption.")

Open Security Center|MALWARE and note if Defender shows a green ON button.
Or is there a statement that WD is not running, with a clickable button that
reads TURN ON?

If the latter, then this is what I saw.
